With unemployment still being a big problem in California, here is the job outlook for 2013. Not too many surprises here, as things are slightly improving The problem in Californai is the lack of incentives for existing buisness to stay such as the Auto Indusrty and now is tricling down to the space.defense 0r the space industry which are joining in the move to a better tax suited state.
Losing the space industry would cause significant damage to the CA market causing thousands of jobs to be lost. From what I have heard, CA is one of the few states who does not have a full time lobbyist trying to keep or cause an influx of defense jobs.

- Video Game Store - If you have a passion for video games and find a great location, this can be started with relatively low start up capital. Your biggest expense would be your overhead as you can purchase used game consoles and games at pennies on the dollar and resell them for a nice profit. You can buy back games from customers and resell them at great margins. You could even rent out game consoles and games to further improve profits. You should start off with at least 300 games with about 100 games for each of the popular gaming consoles. You must learn how to monitor inventory and learn bookkeeping, but these are easy manageable things compared to other start ups. If you have a good location near a school, try selling snacks, sodas and drinks so you can bring in additional revenue while kids/adults browse your store.
- Affiliate Website Owner - If you are a good writer and have some knowledge about SEO, you could start earning affiliate income for bringing in visitors. If they click on your ad, you will earn a commission if they buy something from the store you are advertising. One of my friends has started one and while it hasn't made him rich it has earned money. It is a coupon code site and can be found at Ultra Store Coupons

States with Highest Unemployment Rate
Not surprisingly the state with the highest unemployment rate is Nevada which comes in with an astounding 12% unemployed. During the housing market boom, many people rushed their for jobs in construction, realty and service industries. However when the market crashed, it left them all jobless and in what I consider to be a horrible town for people without jobs. The town I am speaking of is Las Vegas. The reason I think so, is the temptation to gamble and try to get back what they have lost. The signs are everywhere and when people are down, they might cling to the hope of chance.
The second state with the highest unemployment rate is Rhode Island. I am a bit surprised by this as it never popped up as an industrious state on my radar. It more seems like a place to retire. And maybe that's what many did. Moved to Rhode Island to retire, and when the market took a dive they had to start looking for work again.
California is 3rd but when you measure that against the cost of living, it is just a compounding nightmare. Hopefully we will see signs of a recovery soon. There are always some reports that people claim indicate it's getting better but that is completely false at the moment. We need a new industry and smart spending and investing by our state government to start creating jobs again.

The California Unemployment Rate
The California Unemployment Rate is an astonishing 10.9% which is it's highest in 20 years. The dilemma doesn't seem like it is getting any better and it seems the only way it will go down is if people start leaving the state. The fact is, people are leaving in search for a better market. California used to be the hub for jobs, but the problem is everything became too expensive. People who are out of jobs probably aren't even looking as the notion of driving nearly 2 hours in traffic for a job that barely pays the bills seems depressing. Gas prices alone are a deterrent from taking a job too far away. California did nothing to keep companies from moving out of state. For example, Nissan, a company that was headquartered in Torrance CA, moved it's headquarters to Tennesse about 6 years ago and many other companies did the same. The sheer tax benefit of moving outweighed the cost. All of this has had a ripple effect as home prices have dropped, construction has come to a halt which has knocked out thousands of jobs in the home industry. The state has tried many band aids that haven't worked. What will, I don't know but there has to be a dramatic change to shift the state in the right direction.
